This magnificent large antique Victorian Sterling Silver Scottish Thistle brooch is Circa 1860.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.

The brooch boasts stunning detailed workmanship throughout the large Silver gallery depicting a reef of embossed Thistles and adorned with a large Glass Cairngorm stone in the centre.

The Thistle is the national flower of Scotland and has been a symbol of strength, protection and unity within the country throughout history.

The substantial brooch is set in Sterling Silver and fitted with a strong pin and C-catch.

The brooch is a truly eye catching collectors piece and looks outstanding when worn.

Measures 88mm across x 90mm down.
